This is my second Thursday Thirteen... the first I did over a year ago. Hmm... Who knew this was an annual, not a weekly, thing?
I'm a little late for new year's resolutions, but I thought that I'd list thirteen books that I already own that I want to read before the end of 2008.
Last year I joined a TBR Reading Challenge, but I fell off the wagon when H was born in March. It's not that I didn't keep reading, but I just didn't have time to post reviews here, update my list, chat with the TBR Challenge group, and so on.
This year I still don't feel up to joining in again (hopefully next year), but I thought I'd still do an unofficial challenge to myself here, with this list. A lot of the books on this list were on my challenge list for last year. I hope to not have to write them again on my challenge list for 2009.
- The Pianoman's Daughter by Timothy Findley
- With Your Crooked Heart by Helen Dunmore
- Itsuka by Joy Kogawa
- The Silver Metal Lover by Tannith Lee
- After the Quake by Haruki Murakami
- Swan Song by Robert McCammon
- Seabiscuit by Laura Hillenbrand
- The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy
- Microserfs by Douglas Coupland (happy, shy?)
- Sister of My Heart by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni
- Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
- Brave New World by Aldous Huxley
- Jewel by Bret Lott
Good luck to me!
I think I've been spending wayyyy too much time online, jumping around from one random blog to another. The fact that I know about this Thursday Thirteen site scares me a little, at least in terms of my ny resolution to stop spending so much time online.
Anyway, I do know about it, plus I saw the cute banner on the website with permission to use it, so without further adieu, here is my first thursday thirteen list. A little self-centred, but then I guess many memes are, and this is what's weighing most heavily on my mind these days.
Thirteen things I need to do before the arrival of this baby!
inventory M's old clothes; wash what we have, buy what we don'tregister with cord blood bank; pick up collection box- pack labour bag
- choose name/s
- buy/borrow/beg carseat
- mend my bruised rib, or whatever the hell I have going on in my side/back
dig up newborn diaper covers- clean desk; remove it from bedroom; bring up chair from basement for nursing
- find breast pump, steriliser and bm freezer storage bags; sterelise all
- get M registered in a preschool!!
- dig through closet and attic spaces to look for any items we might need (ie. baby bathtub, where is my sling, etc.)
- tidy and clean entire house, including getting all the boxes out of the corner of the bedroom
- buy baby book, not that I'll ever fill it in, but then at least each child will have their very own empty baby book to look at when they're older
Well that wasn't so bad. I thought I'd have trouble fitting all my things to do on this one list, but I actually had to stretch my brain to think of things by the end, so I feel better.
